Cemetery Preservation and Restoration
Ā
Attending workshops has equipped me with skills to restore and clean headstones safely. My passion for preserving local history drives . . . me to actively participate in community projects, ensuring names endure despite weathering. This restoration work is more than a physical task; it's a heartfelt commitment to safeguarding stories in stone. Each project is a journey to revive memories of those who contributed to our community. Through hands-on experiences, I've learned the importance of connecting present and past generations. Restoring each headstone becomes a testament to the enduring spirit of those who came before us, preserving our shared heritage. The interplay of skills and passion fuels my dedication to historical conservation.
HEADSTONEĀ RESTORATION MEADOWVILLE CEMETERY
Meadowville, Utah's, pioneer cemetery, established in 1876, cradles 35 souls, the first being a child. Josiah Tufts, the settlement's Presiding Elder, found eternal rest there. Given the fragmented state of Josiah's headstone, I've invited Amy Barry to lend her gentle touch, along with her tripod, equipment, and expertise for its restoration in early summer. Together, our goal is to breathe new life into not only Josiah's marker but also other deserving headstones within the historic cemetery.
